Apply for Financial Aid |
| |
To apply for Financial Aid, visit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) web site at www.fafsa.gov. For questions or additional information, contact the Financial Aid Office at 269-294-4260 or toll free at 888-994-7818, ext. 260. Priority deadlines are as follows: Fall Aid—June 1; Winter Aid—November 1; Spring/Summer Aid—March 1. You may apply for financial aid after the deadline, but there is no guarantee that your aid package will be complete by the registration date. In such instances, the student pays all costs and is reimbursed if eligible for aid.

Schedule an appointment for the Accuplacer Course Placement Evaluation. |

If you are a new student enrolling in classes, you will need to participate in the Accuplacer Course Placement Evaluation. Call the Tutoring and Testing Center at 269-294-4270 or 888-994-7818, ext. 270, to schedule an appointment. Photo identification is required the day of the test. Students who have earned a prior degree or have met qualifying ACT or SAT scores are exempt from the Accuplacer test.

Request official copies of transcripts to be sent directly to the Glen Oaks Admissions Office. |

Please send official copies of high school, Adult Education, GED, or college transcripts to Glen Oaks Community College for evaluation prior to registering for classes. Transcripts must be mailed from the school/organization directly to Glen Oaks. Official transcripts cannot be hand-carried or faxed.

5. |
Plan a program of study with a counselor. |

Academic counselors/advisors are available to help students clarify their educational goals and to identify courses needed to meet certificate or degree requirements. During registration periods, advising is available on a walk-in basis; no appointments are necessary. During non-registration periods, students should make an appointment for academic advisement by calling 269-294-4246 or 888-994-7818, ext. 246. You must take the Accuplacer Course Placement Evaluation prior to scheduling classes with an advisor. Click here to be directed to the Counseling Center.

Attend New Student Orientation. |

New Student Orientation is designed to help students become more familiar with the college and its policies and procedures. On-campus orientations are held prior to the start of classes each semester. For students unable to attend on-campus orientations, an online orientation is available at www.glenoaks.edu under the Quick Links section.
Effective Fall 2012, orientation is mandatory for new students and must be completed prior to registering for classes.

Register and pay for classes. |

Registration dates are posted in class schedules and on the web at www.glenoaks.edu. Contact the Registration Office at 269-294-4259 or 888-994-7818, ext. 259, for further information. Payment for classes may be made at the Bookstore or online via E-cashier located on the Glen Oaks website. Students must pay in full or make payment arrangements within 24 hours of registration.

Activate your Glen Oaks student email account. |

Students are to activate their student email account by visiting the Current Students section of our website. Click on Student Email Access to be directed to the log in screen. Check your email often! GOCC staff and instructors communicate important information, events, and reminders through this email account. Student who have been placed on a wait list for a course will be notified of seat availability through the student email account. If you need assistance activating your email, please call 269-467-9945.

Purchase textbooks. |

New and used textbooks can be purchased at the campus bookstore or online at http://bookstore.glenoaks.edu. The Bookstore accepts personal checks, Master Card, and Visa. Contact the Bookstore at 269-294-4240 or 888-294-7818, ext 240.
