Do I have to reapply each semester for SSS?
No. Once you are accepted to SSS you are active until graduation, unless you stop out of school for a period of time.
How many times do I need to meet with my assigned SSS staff member?
SSS participants must have at least five contacts per semester with Program Staff. A minimum of two of those contacts must be in-office appointments.
Am I eligible for an SSS scholarship?
In order to be eligible for an SSS scholarship students must be active in the program each semester as evidenced by at least two (2) in-office meetings with Program Staff and participation in at least three (3) SSS-approved workshops/activities. Additional requirements for eligibility may apply.
If my assigned SSS staff member is not available, to whom do I turn for assistance?
If you have an immediate issue that needs to be addressed, please see any SSS staff member for assistance, as we are happy to assist all SSS students.
How much time does it take to participate in the TRiO SSS program?
This is up to you—it can take as little as five (5) hours per semester or several hours each week. You decide which services to utilize.
Does it cost money to join?
No—everything in the program is free to SSS participants!

What will I be required to do?
Once you’ve applied to the program, you will be required to schedule and attend appointments with SSS staff to complete an intake interview and needs assessment.
How many people are in GOCC’s SSS program and what are they like?
Each year, the GOCC SSS program serves 140 college students. They are all ages and from all walks of life. Most of the students work part-time, some full-time, and many are heads of households that include dependent children.
